TAI ON BUILDING SHAUKEIWAN

HE recently completed Tai On Building at Shaukeen is to date the largest venture by a Hong Kong private developer into the provision of jow cost housing for sale to its oc- cupants.

There are 1,884 flats in the 29- storey building, which occupies an entire block on the Shaukeiwan water- front of Hong Kong Island. Not surprisingly, the developers, Hong Kong Land Investment and Agency Co. Ltd., claim that it is the largest multi-owned residential building in the world and that its ground floor shopping centre is the largest in South East Asia.

The island site covers an area of 90,161 sq. ft. and is bounded by Tai Hong Street on the west, Shaukeiwan Road on the south, Tai On Street on the east and New Street on the north.
