An attractive house of a simple design was recently built for Mr. J. Payne the Australian Trade Commissioner in Singapore, by Ideal Homes.

The house is situated in Cornwall Gardens opposite Holland Road and is placed on a side of a valley below the level of the road.

The ground floor comprises a lounge with sliding, folding doors opening on to an extended terrace and loggia, dining room, entrance hall, kitchen and servery. The first floor accommodation comprises two large bedrooms, two bathrooms

and dressing room.

Servants' quarters and garage are provided separately. The building is of reinforced concrete frame construction and the ground floor has been tiled throughout with mosaics. The bedrooms are of blocks selected for colour. laid in a herring-bone pattern.

We hope to publish plans, additional photographs and complete description of this delightful residence in our next issue.
