Electric light is now so cheap that domestic consumers can have all the light they need. In the interests of eyesight every home should be pro- perly equipped for the hours of dark- ness by having a comprehensive and up-to-date installation.

An illuminated panel, such as that illustrated on the left, can be installed in a disused wall cupboard or window opening. The lighting in this instance is from a 100-watt lamp in a shop window reflector placed behind a sheet of opal glass. When constructing a false window or illuminated panel care should be taken to ensure an even illumination over the whole crea as spottiness detracts from general appearance.

A number of fittings are not only beneficial from the seeing point of view but a substantial contribution to the general decoration. The room shown on the left is a good illustra- tion of this point, furthermore, the fittings being portable, extreme flex- ibility is possible.
