curved surface and has the addi- tional advantages of being unusually decorative and practical.

The remainder of the walls are plastered. although the only ones to be seen in the large room are those flanking the passage to the private dining rooms; these are finished with white textured plaster. The walls in the private rooms have teak panelled dadoes with stippled green plaster above.

Most of the remaining walls are concealed by modern curtain fabrics. which are predominantly green and chartreuse on two walls and modern design in black and white on the window wall.

The two free-standing columns have vertical teak fllets with char- treuse coloured plaster showing be- tween: apart from emphasising the teak panelling of the walls this finish will help to protect the plaster from the chipping and soiling to which it might otherwise be exposed.

Sliding folding doors have been installed to give access to the veran- dah at the front of the building: in cool weather the room can be entirely opened out to the verandah.

Chairs are upholstered in char- treuse and red leather echoing the colours in the drapes.

The floor is of dark brown cork tiles 3' 0" by 1' 0" laid on bitumen felt; this results in a surface which is soft to walk on and is quiet, and easy to keep clean.

A new false ceiling has been built at one level throughout beneath the effect finished in two shades of grey. lowest beams, giving a dual plane

The main lighting is of the indirect type concealed in troughs above the new false ceiling: illumination is by means of neon strip lighting. Sup- plementary lighting is provided by wall bracket fittings attached to the panelling.

The entire restaurant is air-condi- tioned the large room by two package units concealed behind the wall panelling and the three private rooms by individual window units.
