The ground floor plan.
A tarmac paved yard adjoins the two-storeyed block; this is provided for use partly as a car-park and part- ly as a laundry drying area.
There is a large canopy over the entrance of the building to enable ambulances to be under cover when discharging or picking up patients.
The Centre has a concrete framed structure throughout.

The floors of the quarters in the main block are finished with asphalt tiles, while those in the secondary block are of trowelled granolithic.
The cost of the Centre was about $350,000, half being donated anony- mously by Chinese and the rest sup- plied by Government.
The building was designed by the Architectural Office of the Public Works Department. The piling and filling of the site was commenced in August 1953 and the foundation stone was laid in the following November by His Excellency the Governor.

The floors of the waiting hall, con- sulting rooms, dispensary, dressing room, casualty ward and maternity ward are all of rubbed granolithic with white cement rubbed granolithic dadoes to the waiting hall and con- sulting rooms.
The labour ward and sluice room have white mosaic tile floors with six inch square white glazed tile dadoes.
