R.B.L. 178. REPULSE BAY ROAD

M

A two-storey private residence which, architecturally speaking, is as unusual and interesting as any modern building illustrated in recent publications is being designed by Messrs. Palmer & Turner for R.B.L. 178, Repulse Bay Road. The main feature, which differentiates it immediately from the usual design in Hong Kong, is the huge well-proportioned stair hall, the front of which is completely built from the ground to the ceiling of the first floor of glass brick, forming the central feature around which the rest of the building is designed.

The huge two-car garage with bedroom over forms an integral part of the main façade instead of being relegated out of sight at the rear of the building. The huge living-room on the ground floor has a large window on one side and an unusually large French window on the opposite side giving access to a covered verandah which extends completely around two sides of the room.
