control.
The Control Room is air conditioned by a Carrier air conditioning plant which was supplied and installed by Andersen, Meyer & Company, Ltd. The plant is located in a room adjacent to the Control Room, condi- tioned air being supplied by a duct system and distributed by high velocity directional flow type outlets. The plant provides and circulates filtered, cooled and dehumidified air during the summer, and filtered, electrically-heated and humidified air during the winter. The conditioned air is supplied at the rate of 4,400 cubic feet per minute, and its make-up may be varied from 100% outside air to 100% recirculated air.
"A Waygood-Otis electric passenger lift is installed in the Boiler House and is operated by Push Button Con- trol. The landing entrances opening through the divid- ing wall between the Power Station and the Boiler House are protected by sliding hollow steel doors while the entrances on the Boiler House side are fitted with collap- sible gates. This lift serves five floors and is entirely automatic and the car will not move unless all the doors and gates are shut. The lift was supplied and installed by the Otis Elevator Company of Hong Kong."

type, the air being drawn by centrifugal fans through Jardine Engineering Corpn.-Windows, rooflights, elec- direct-expansion finned evaporating coils. The refriger- ating plant is of 15 tons capacity and consists of two Freon compressors driven by 10 H.P. motors, and an evaporative type condenser. This type of condenser provides the greatest possible economy in water con- sumption, as it requires only a very small amount of make-up water to replace that lost by evaporation.
The compressors are mounted on specially-designed foundations, which are insulated from the floor in order to prevent the transmission of vibration to the building structure. The supply and return duct systems are isolated from the air conditioning apparatus by canvas connections, and are also provided with sound absorbers to reduce the transmission of sound to the Control Room. The plant is controlled from a panel located in the Control Room, but it may also be fully controlled from
