Room units occupy the fourth to 17th floors, with luxury suite units at the top. On the roof floor rests a tea house which takes the form of a circular structure cantilevered out to give unobstructed views over the island. An observation deck is also provided on the same floor as the motor-room at a height of 223 ft. above ground. The hotel is air- conditioned throughout and fully-carpeted.
Other facilities include a kidney-shaped swim- ming pool with an adjacent children's pool linked by terrace to a private lounge and bar, parking for 200 cars, and a landscaped garden complete with a reflecting pool adorned by a piece of modern sculpture depicting Apollo.
The architects are Ho Kwong Yew & Sons, Mr. Ho Kok Hoe, ARIBA, being the partner in charge. Eugene H.L. Chan & Associates are the consulting engineers and Suckling McDonald & Mohd. Ishak, the quantity surveyors. Piling is being carried out by Vitro (S) Ltd.
Government architects elect officers
Mr. Luciano V. Aquino, city architect of Que- zon City, has been re-elected president of the Association of Philippine Government Architects. He is now serving his third term.
Other elected officers are: Deogracias Atienza of the Bureau of Public Works, vice president; Cesar Magallanes, BPW, secretary; Herminio Golfo of the Social Security System, treasurer, and Mauro Al- mazan of the Government Service Insurance Sys- tem, ex-officio director. The association now has some 700 members.
Geological survey of Hong Kong completed
Architects and engineers working on develop- ment projects in Hong Kong will be greatly assisted by the results of a survey just completed by two geologists from the Overseas Division of the Ins- titute of Geological Sciences in London, Dr. E.A. Stevens and Dr. P.M. Allen.
