In the construction of the house, the load-bearing walls are all of brick, while the floors, roof and staircases are of reinforced concrete. The floors to all principal rooms are of teak blocks laid either herring-bone or in 12" squares; the closed and open verandahs, the first floor balcony and the bathrooms are all surfaced with mosaic tiling. The walls of bathrooms, kitchen and pantry are of glazed tiles, either Ming Green, cream or white.
The external walls are roughcast, finished in cream, with steel windows painted the same colour. The roof is finished with red tiles of traditional design.

View of the rear of the house.
It is a matter of extreme regret to us that we cannot at this stage publish any photographs of the interior, as the furnishing of the house has not yet been completed. However, the pictures of the exterior and the floor plans accompanying this article leave no doubt that the architects have made a splendid job of the design of the house, which incorporates the elements of dignity, of balance and of harmony. A great deal of thought has been given to the correct positioning and proper dimensions of every room. The main stairhall and curving staircase leading to the upper floor makes a particu- larly pleasing picture, and we hope that in some future issue we shall have the opportunity of illustrating this and other features of the interior of the house.
