The Magistrates will enter from the higher end of the site. They will have a private entrance and a private lift up to their rooms on the fourth floor.

Government Departments will have their access from an entrance at the lower part of the site, which will be entirely separated from the Magis- trates' Courts.

As regards the external treatment of the building, the lower part or plinth will be formed of granite stones obtained from Diamond Hill and above that the building will be treat- ed in granite plaster. The spandrels or panels between the windows will be of glazed terra-cotta tile of violet colour obtained from the New Terri- tories. It will be noted from the right-hand side of the picture that there are ver- tical sunbreakers, made of aluminium and adjustable, to keep the hot sun

off the Courts.

Both these new buildings are to be centrally airconditioned, and this will provide a welcome relief from the con- ditions sometimes experienced in crowded courtrooms here during the hot season.
