as it does at the north-west corner of the building: its height is em- phasised by the tail corner windows lighting the staircase, and by the large aluminium cross affixed to its east side. The tower is finished in granite with artificial dressed stone coping and frame which divides the windows into sections. In the belfry, the top three sections of the win- dows, and openings in the two blank walls, have been fitted with glass louvers.

Emphasis has been laid on the west end to provide a "welcoming" entrance: this has been achieved mostly by an exaggeration of the size of the entrance itself by treating most of this wall as a unit and giv- ing the impression of one huge door. This part of the facade is enclosed by an artificial dressed stone frame, within which is a cement plaster finished surround laid out in squares and decorated with carved stone panels. In the centre portion is a coloured glass cross set in a large window.
