The nave. with a 48 foot span. rises 28 feet high, the whole interior height of the building, and can hold a congregation of 400 on the ground floor, with another 100 in the bal- cony which is placed over the narthex.
Behind and to the east of the chancel is a robing room and lava- tory accommodation for the church and for the Sunday School which lies to the cost of the church, open- ing on to a small courtyard and to school and pastor's offices. This schoolroom. which is 30 feet by 54 feet. can be divided into sections by moveable partitions.
The greater part of the first floor is occupied by the upper portion of the main body of the church and the balcony which opens on to it. but there is also an adult or fellow- ship hall (over the schoolroom) and lavatory and kitchen facilities, for
use when social functions are held in the hall.
On the second floor. again oc cupied mainly by the upper part of the church and balcony. is a flat for the pastor's living accommodation. plus two bedrooms for other church workers. The flat contains living. dinning room. three bedrooms. kit. chen and servants quarters.
The whole church is in reinforced concrete and the foundations stand on the rock bed. this avoiding all piling operations. The interiors are all in facing brick which is white- washed and floors are in white ter- razzo with black mosaic lines. The

colour scheme overall in the interior in black and white. relieved by the warm brown of the teakwood furnishings.
In the forecourt the paving is of small pebbles in washed granolithic plaster. Exterior walls are in white Shanghai plaster. with granite fac- ings to the steps up to the entrance from the street.
The general contractor was the Cheng Tai Construction Co. Other sub-contractors and suppliers in- cluded.
