suspended from the broad and shel- tering overhang of the auditorium. its ceiling the stepped underside of the balcony seats.
In keeping with the setting, the triangular side walls of the audit- orium balcony are covered with abstract murals of coloured stucco panels divided by black mosaic tiles, and the four supporting columns along the front of the building extend far above it to carry banners and bunting for the many festive occasions celebrated in the park.
Inside, the side walls of the audi- torium are finished with perforated plywood backed by glass wool, in a bold prismatic design of red and grey. By contrast. the main ceiling of the auditorium has been kept perfectly flat and simple, its deep blue colour varied slightly to pro. duce a barely discernible "chequer- board" effect.
