From the stairhall on the ground floor, a magnificent circular staircase leads up to the first floor; this stair- case, which has specially made rail- ings and fitted carpets, opens to the gallery overlooking the reception room. From the gallery two short flights of steps lead to passages on each side of it. In the east wing is the master bedroom suite, consisting of a large bedroom with a balcony, a' dressing room, two bathrooms, a closed verandah, a spare sitting room and plenty of closet space. In the west wing are three bedrooms, each with a separate bathroom and a large closet; the two bedrooms at the back of the house share a common balcony, but the two sections are separated by concrete louvers for privacy. Also contained in this wing are a combined drying room and store room, a large linen closet, a room for cleaning materials and equipment, a work room and an amah's room. The ser- vice rooms are separated from the bedrooms by a door in the west passage.
The separate servants' block, which is also two storeys high, contains a garage for three cars and the laundry, apart from the servants' rooms. The servants' block is connected to the main building by a covered way, which is supported by columns on its inside edge and by a wall on its out- side edge perforated at intervals by special tiles.
The car park, which lies between the west end of the building, the covered way and the
garage, is
enclosed at the front by a wall having sliding doors for access.
The main part of the house has a very attractive low pitched roof covered with green glazed tiles,
