dining area with kitchen attached for the use of the staff. At the front of the building, on the mezzanine to this ground floor, is the general office, the manager's office, and a large reception room where clients are received and business transacted. Here also is to be found the tool room where valuable equipment is kept under lock and key.
The main building itself has two further floors, both devoted to staff quarters, the first floor accommodating fifteen persons and the top floor ten. Each floor has washroom facilities with latrines and urinals, while an additional kitchen is included in the planning of the top floor.
The building itself is of normal reinforced concrete construction with brick filling, and is smooth rendered externally. Interest is lent to the design of the building by the fact that the front curves to follow the bend of the street at this point. The narrow verandah with concrete canopy over, which extends the full length of the top floor, and the prominence of the horizontal lines of the window sills emphasise this curve as well as offer a pleasant contrast to the vertical lines of the staircase windows, which run from ground to roof level of the stairwell placed at the extreme east end of the building.
