On this basis, in order to provide a fair return of in- vestment, depreciation and repairs of the building, amortisa- tion of principal, etc., a fair rental to the investor would be $600 to $700 per month, a figure which is beyond the scope of the class of people it would be designed to accommodate therein.

A brief itemised schedule of quantities for the bungalow illustrated in this article is given below,

The specification is based on a good standard of workman- ship and fittings. As will be seen, teak parquet flooring, metal doors and windows, and plastering and decoration work of the quality generally expected for European type of dwelling, have been provided for. Bathroom fittings are of good quality.

The rates quoted are those ruling at the moment and are based upon quotations received from reliable European and Chinese contracting firms.
