With the exception of a strip of land 300 ft. long and 15 ft. wide along the sea front, the whole of the fish market is covered with multiple spans of shell roof and a tower block for the administration in the centre. The dimension of the shell roof varies slightly from that the vegetable market and a comparison is given below.

COST:

The cost of the Fish Market excluding two jetties amounts to $1,573,000. This gives a unit rate of $1.51 per cubic foot, or $25.00 per sq.ft. of covered floor area,

The cost of the two jetties will be about $400,000 or about $100 per sq.ft. of the jetty.

To save the cost of the shuttering work, the radius of the shell roof has been kept constant, consequently the used steel shuttering from the veget able market can be reused on the fish market after some minor adjust- ment.

The overall design of the fish market generally follows the pattern of the vegetable market. The follow- ing are some of the basic features.

The above rooms 10% of the total covered area. The remaining 90% is of clear open space divided into two sections with wire mesh screen; the front section being the sorting floor while the rear section is the auction floor.
