The process consists of spraying specially blended and prepared pure asbestos fibres and an inorganic binder together with jets of atomised water on to the surface to be insulated.

The coating can be built up, in one operation, in thicknesses varying from (6mm) to 12" (300mm) and to densities from 7 lb./cu. ft. (120kg/m3) to 15 lb./cu. ft. (240kg./m3), according to the purpose of the insulation.

The resultant coating dries out naturally to form a permanent, homogeneous and tight fitting insulation: where required it may be provided with a smooth hard surface finish.
