future installation of toilet facilities to serve the factories.
Ground floor frontage has been set aside for shops and showrooms while the rear of the ground floor and the first floor have been left for flatted factories. These are the only two floors with set functions.
At ground floor level, the building is divided into three sections by a two storey high vehicular
vehicular exit- entrance leading to the ramp at the rear and by an open yard running off this throughway.
All three sections are linked up by the second floor level, and the build- ing retains this appearance to roof level.
The new building is being con. structed as phase I of a three stage development plan on a triangular piece of vacant land beside Green İsland's main Hong Kong factory.
Phase 2 will consist of a theatre building and offices and phase 3, a factory. Work on phase 2 is expect ed to begin soon.
Cost of the new building, including piling. lifts and other fittings, should be about $7 million which would give a cubic foot cost of approximate- ly $1.50. (Building volume will be 5,038,000 cubic feet.)
