On the ground floor are the main and air conditioning plant room electrical equipment rooms. the air. port garage, kitchen stores

kitchen staff canteen, and offices for the electrical and airport foremen. Living accommodation for the elec trical foreman and airconditioning foreman is located on a mezzanine floor above these offices.
The basement houses the airport main store, vehicle workshops. bat- tery charging rooms, gardens store and subsidiary air conditioning plant. There is another air condi tioning plant room on the top floor. Rising above the two floors of the airport proper is the office block which contains the airport control and administration. flight infornia- tion services and the airline com- pany offices.
There is a separate entrance at ground floor level at the north-west corner for access to this office block which is served by two lifts from the main entrance; one travels to the fifth floor and the other to the fourth floor only.
A third passenger lift is central- ly located and provides a connection between the offices and the first floor waiting hall. It also travels to the ground floor as a crew access lift so that crew can go from the brief- ing area on the fourth floor or from air line offices to the air side wait-
room.
The meteorological office at the south-west end of the fourth floor has a projecting balcony from which observations are made.
The control tower rises above the sixth floor level and is the high- est point of the building.

When the north-west wing exten- sion is completed the present tran- sit waiting lounge will revert to its proper function as an overflow area for departing passengers because a special transit area will be provided in it. This will have a buffet with THE HONG KONG & FAR EAST EUILDER VOLUME 17, NUMBER 4
its own kitchen and larder, a bar- ber shop and a nursery.
On the first floor will be more air line offices, an enlarged visitors' area and some special "Monarch” suites, which may be leased, furnish- ed and decorated by air lines in
their OWN taste for catering for special passengers.
The old airport building has now reverted to its proper function as a freight handling building. The old restaurant, which was between the old arrival and departure
