The three illustrations on
this page are of the living room described in this article.
The wall facing the covered verandah and lawn has
been provided with French windows which can be folded back against the architrave leaving a completely unobstructed opening onto the garden.
separate shower recess with both overhead and needle sprays has also been provided. The walls and floor are tiled with green Genoa marble, the whole blending into a picture that metamorphosizes the bathroom into a work of art.
The guest bathroom contains Armitage Peony Red fixtures with the walls and floor covering of peach coloured Malkin tiles.
The kitchen and pantry would be the envy of any housewife the world over, being tiled with Malkin Lagoon Blue Art tiles, trimmed with black mouldings, and needless to say, every convenience has been provided as fix- tures in these two service rooms.
All piping throughout the house is of Yorkshire copper tubing and a complete elec- tric system supplying hot water to all outlets has been installed.
Special mention must be made of the wrought ironwork in this building. In addi- tion to the lighting fixtures previously men- tioned, the main gate, entrance door grille, all window grilles and the entrance hall stair rail are of wrought iron, in addition to which many appropriate ornaments in the same material have been tastefully disposed throughout the house. All wrought iron work has been as- sembled with welded joints and finished with a hand-hammered effect similar to that exe- cuted on silverware.
