Hong Kong Builder
PERSPECTIVE FOR TWO KNITTING ANDWEAVING FACTORIES.
ON NKILOT No2628 CASTLE PEAK ROAD.
KH-BASTO-ARIBA.
ARCHITECT
In this and the opposite page we reproduce perspective drawings
of three new factories now in course of construction in Hongkong and the New Territories.
The building (top left) has been designed for the manufacture of Chinese patent medicines on the ground, first, second and third floors, while the top floor is to be used as a residence. A lift will give access to all floors.
The entire structure is of reinforced concrete. The site is on King's Road, North Point.
On the left is a reproduction of the architect's drawing for a rubber factory on Castle Peak Road. Its main output will be rubber shoes for local consumption and the export trade. The first two floors of the main building will be used as working space while the single storey portion at the back will be reserved for machinery, vulcanizing, cutting, packing, boiler rooms, etc.
The main structure, including floors and roof, is of reinforced con- crete while the rear portion has steel roof trusses and a corrugated asbestos roof. Ample skylight has been provided to give excellent lighting through- out the factory.
The drawing above gives an excellent idea of two knitting factories which are being built at the corner of Kiu Kiang Street and Castle Peak Road. The factories proper will be on the first two floors, the top being used as quarters.
These new factories are only a few of the many industrial construc- tions which have been erected in the Colony, especially in Kowloon.
