The main area of the wall surface above the rose- wood dado is composed of precast plaster slabs covered with golden padauk "Maltas" wall veneer, which is applied in situ in much the same way as wallpaper. The panels are sloped slightly backwards to increase the amount of light thrown down on them from a continuous metal troughing placed above the wall panelling.

Glass has been extensively used in the scheme. There are seven large mirrors with shaped heads form- ing central features on the wall panelling. These are in silvered peach plate and have decorative metal grilles in silver bronze applied over the front face.
