All the main rooms face south while the subsidiary rooms, hall and passages protect the northern exposure. In anticipation of typhoons all doors and windows are of heavy section steel with double bolts to all fanlights and doors. Servants have bright and airy rooms, the clothes drying area is hidden from the view of passers- by, and a garage is situated close to the main entrance. A neatly fenced lawn runs along two sides of the terrace. The whole layout has been well conceived and carefully planned and provides for the maximum use of space coupled with easy circulation of movement from
room to room.
The Hong Kong Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., were the General Contractors for the building.
The "Masonite" for the doors and the B.R.C. fencing was supplied by Davie Boag & Co., Ltd.
The concealed electric wiring was carried out by the Jardine Engineering Corporation who also supplied the steel windows and the electric hot water heaters.

The tiles and tiling work was by Cathay Ceramics
The "Standard" bathroom fixtures and fittings were supplied by Andersen, Meyer & Co., Ltd.
The "Grayeblock" hollow tiles were manufactured and supplied by Concrete Products Ltd.
The "Dulux" paint was supplied by Reiss Bradley & Co., Ltd.
This, then, is the description of one building which is characteristic of the class of construction which is being erected at "Garden City."
