covered by cement rendering that bonds the sur- faces into a permanent sheet, is moulded to 6 in. of concrete. With the insulation this gives a wall 8 in. deep, providing the equivalent insulation of a 14 in. brick wall. Each floor of the 14-storey building has a column-free area of 5,200 sq. ft.
Mechanical services at roof level are enclosed in a plastic dome with a wall thickness of 3 in. This was erected in six hours and weighs six tons. A conventional concrete shell construction would weigh 110 tons.

Bathroom/kitchen wall has built-in fixtures
A Swedish company, Montageblock AB, has developed a lightweight 'wet wall' with built-in bathroom and kitchen plumbing. All the fixtures are attached to the wall so that no under-floor plumbing is required.

It contains vertical piping and wiring for the attachment of toilet, wash stand, bath tub, bidet, washing machine, dish washer, sink and lighting fixtures. It also connects with the ven- tilation system and has, on the bathroom side, built-in cabinet with mirror and paper holder.
