Generally speaking, the economies of structure have been pushed to the limit. However, there still remain ing the problem of roofing and wall cladding. Both of these structural items represent large areas and two items where future savings could be substantiai. In the former case, there are, of course, many substitute roof- ings with varying advantages and with also the opposite. The lowest com- mon denominator of all the built-up types of roof is its weight-saving propensity, but even this is nullified by the fact that the economic beam section is dictated by deflection and not by loading. In the case of wall cladding units a good deal of public prejudice must be overcome before sales are possible in substitutes brick. Hollow concrete block con- struction is lighter and slightly cheaper than brick, but public pre- ference for brick is always evident in the purchasers' inquiries.

Prince's Hotel Garni, Singapore, has acquired a "new look" with Kawneer Zourite, a colourful porcelain enamel- led aluminium facing material.
Zourite was used as an all-round facia, for entrances and canopies, for porches, and for grille-type windows. The material was supplied by Diethelm and Co., Ltd. Singapore, who were
were also responsible for the entire renovation of the hotel.
Zourite can be used in an unlimited number of designs to give a distinc- tive, original appearance.
Inexpensive to buy and erect, the maintenance of Zourite is negligible. A periodic washing with soap and water is sufficient to retain its bril- liance and smart appearance.
It is available in 13 colours. The porcelain surfaces are glass- fused to heavy-gauge aluminium to give smooth, durable finishes that resist chipping, cracking and fading.
