As will be seen from the photo- graphs, the architect has fulfilled all wishes almost to the letter and found a solution for every problem.

The site, I.L. 7208, is located be- tween Mt. Davis Road and Victoria Road comprising about 5,700 square feet in a rectangle 95 ft. by 60 ft. on a very steep slope running from 185 ft. to 225 ft. above sea level, which necessitated the cutting of approxi- mately 60,000 cubic feet. Instead of

levelling a platform and placing the house on it with the back wall close to the barren cutting, the architect moved the position of the house for- ward in such a way that only half of it rests on solid ground, the other half being built on a reinforced con- crete platform resting on pillars driven down to solid ground, with the ter- race cantilevered from it. In effect the whole front section projects from the hillside, and the impression one gets when standing on the terrace is of hanging, or rather, floating on the air and over the sea.
