A crushing plant was also set up on the site to make use of the rock that had to be excavated.
over
Site formation and foundation laying up to ground floor level took one year; much time being wasted in transporting materials
rough ground before the new access road was constructed. Water was also a problem and had to be carted in from a nearby stream.
At the rear of the building the main car park was constructed. It can house about 120 cars and oc- cupies, together with the main build- ing, most of the 49,500 square feet site.
The
superstructure consists of R.C.C. slabs and beams оп shear walls in both directions to resist wind pressure. It took two years to com- plete.
The cost per cubic foot of the superstructure was about $2.60.
The general contractor for the project was the Foo Wing Construc- tion Co. Other sub-contractors and suppliers included. ---

ANTI-CLIMB PAINT
AN ANTI-CLIMB paint, besides fulfilling the usual purposes of decoration and preservation, has been given police approval in Bri- tain as providing a unique protec- tion against burglary by eliminating the commonest method of illegal entry.
It has been developed for use on downcomer pipes, window sills, and tops of walls etc., above a height of seven feet. Surfaces require only one coat to prevent access being made via windows and skylights to private homes, office blocks and other business premises.
The paint gives a non-drying per- manent plastic coating that remains in a slippery condition and which the manufacturers claim will outlast all other paints for wear. It will not wash off, and is resistant to most acids, alkalis, and corrosive fumes.
Pylons, posts etc., so treated, it is claimed, cannot be scaled, thus pro- viding an effective measure against illegal entry. Backs of pipes must be properly coated. This paint is said also to be ideal for ledges where other birds seagulls, pigeons and other tend to rest.
