Construction of the bungalow is equally simple. The footings of the walls, which are of generally 9-inch load-bearing brick, go down into the rock which is very near the surface in this part of the Hong Kong. The only exception to the use of load- bearing brick is at points in the cen- tral living portion where reinforced concrete columns are used to carry the load of the arches which carry the load of the roof as there are no dividing walls between the living. room, dining room and study.
The louvres of the containing walls make a pleasant background to the entrance garden.

This view of the main entrance to the bungalow shows clearly the windows set high in the service corridors, giving light but ensuring coolness under the deep overhangs.
Floors are of concrete slab with different finishes appropriate to the use of different areas of the bun- galow. The verandah is floored with 4-inch mosaic tiles; the living area, passage, and bedrooms are covered with parquet blocks in light honey-coloured of keranji wood; the bathrooms. store room. servants' rooms, utility area and kitchen are covered in vinyl tiles.
The shallow pitched roof has deep overhangs on all sides to keep out the sun as much as possible and to aid in keeping the whole bungalow cool. Roof construction is in con- crete slab with a one-and-a-half inch layer of foamed polystyrene on top for insulation before the a layer of felt finished off with lawn green coloured roofing felt.
Walls are plastered in a rough finish and then whitewashed. The louvres in the containing wall are in reinforced concrete, coloured green on the inside and whitewashed on the outside. For contrast to this white finish coloured panels have been put in the exterior wall.
