NO. 3

BUNGALOW

REPULSE

BAY

Residents of Hong Kong all know the row of bungalows at Repulse Bay facing the Lido and will remember that although substantially built these buildings were anything but original in design. They were sold some time ago and one of them. No. 3. was entirely remodelled and enlarged by Messrs. Palmer & Turner. The photographs on this page were taken after the work was completed and graphically illustrates the result of the application of imagination and skill—and the expenditure of money.

The sitting room facing the sea was extended and under this extended portion in the basement a games room with a small bar and showers was incorporated. The tower and a garage entering from South Bay Road are also additions.

The gardens are in three terraces. The main entrance being approached by flights of short steps through pergolas and the entrance terrace is paved with stone.

Through a picture window in the study. an interesting rock garden can be seen.

The walls of sitting and dining rooms are lined with "Perspex" of salmon and light blue shade. In one corner of the sitting room a novelty bar is situated. The entire exterior has been remodelled and is now Spanish style with rambling red tiled roofs and numerous stone treatments.
