ARC RULE
A new rule, announced by the Lietz Co., Division Paxton National, Inc., 330 Corey Way, South San Fran- cisco, USA, features a finely-ground steel blade that permits ruling arcs of circles with radii up to 216.9 in- ches (5.509 m).
A true arc is formed by 9 in. of the blade and curvature is controlled by a graduated thumb screw. The smallest radius is 27.25 in. (0.6921 m).

SHOWER UNITS
Self-contained automatic electric shower units introduced by Santon Ltd., Somerton Works, Newport, Mon., UK, are thermostatically controlled and have a full range mixing valve. The shower head offers wide, vertical or sideway adjustment.
wall fixing over bath or on shower wall and the ESU/18/R for fixing on the outside of shower cabinet partitions with reversed controls.
When hot, the unit will shower at rate of 0.75 gallons per minute for a period of about six to eight minutes, giving a shower temperature of 110 deg. F. Recovery is achieved with the Santon removable 3kW element which will heat up from cold to 165 deg. F. in fifteen to twenty minutes and after use will re-heat in twelve to fifteen minutes.
The inner container is constructed of cold rolled copper sheet with all seams lapped and brazed while the outer casing is heater body, with top and bottom domes, fabricated in sub- stantial gauge sheet steel, subjected to anti-corrosive treatment.

MARBLE GLASS
Italian marble textures can be re- produced on glass by Marmo Vetro, 10 Charles Street, Brunswick, Australia.
Marble-Glass table top
The end product, used on furniture and kitchen fixtures, is called Marble- Glass.
Each marble pattern is hand-sprayed on to the glass. The glass tops are then bonded to 'flakeboard', a strong tim- ber material with a smooth surface. The result is a light, permanently shiny, heat-resistant surface which does not stain and is easily cleaned.
Kept a closely guarded secret in the industry, the Marmo Vetro spraying process is said to reproduce such fine Italian marble textures as Antico, Verde Alpi, Carrara, Onice, and Cipollino.
ROLLER SHUTTERS
Designed for direct connection to Roller shutters introduced by Colo- towns water supply, the unit is manu- rastic Ltd., Frenches Works, Chew factured in two types; the ESU/18 for Valley Road, Greenfield, Oldham,
Lancs. UK, are made from heavy duty PVC continuous interlocking laths, which are mechanically strong, non- absorbent, stainproof and colourfast.
The colours are locked into the laths themselves, thus eliminating the need for paint during the life of the shutter. The laths, completely weather- fast and available in ten standard

(91 x 18 mm), all with pro- vision for invisible internal reinforce- ment bars when necessary. The shutters can be made, either as single or multi- ple units, to any size of opening.

FIXING METHOD FOR GLASS
For forming Insulight glass blocks into interior panels and screens, Pilk- ington Bros. Ltd., St. Helens, Lancs., UK, have developed a new fixing method called Dry-Fix.
It uses plastic strip to separate the blocks and wooden wedges to secure them in a timber frame. It is simpler and produces a smoother finish than the previous technique which used bolts to secure the blocks.
The plastic strip prevents glass-to- glass contact and ensures that the com- pleted panel remains rigid. The strip

is almost invisible when the blocks are in position. Once a timber frame has been made, a panel of up to 100 blocks can be quickly assembled.
