The development of the residential sites along the Repulse Bay Road area has been proceeding apace and in the past few months four rather excellent residential buildings have been completed with about fourteen or fifteen more either in course of erection or to be started shortly.

Amongst the most interesting of these developments is the one that is now taking place in R.B.L. 403, which is situated on the spur of a hill to the south-east of the imposing Spanish residence on R.B.L. 369. The area comprises about 185,000 sq. ft., and was purchased by Messrs. Eu Tong Sen Ltd. about 8 months ago.

Messrs. Leigh & Orange, Architects, are doing the development work on this site and, as will be seen from the block plan on the opposite page, they are providing for four buildings, three of which are individual resid- ences and the fourth a semi-detached two-storey building containing two residences.

By the judicious planning of the site formation work and the utilization of retaining walls, they have succeeded in providing in the layout for three tennis

courts, while the houses have been placed so that each one will be facing due south and will have ample ground separating it from its neighbour. The access road which connects the site to the new Repulse Bay Road has been brought up to the rear of the buildings and permits of the planning of individual garages for each residence.

While the development has not yet advanced far enough to give full details of it, by kind permission of the architects, we are reproducing the floor plan of the house on Site B, which is the semi-detached building, and the floor plan of Site A, a two-storey residence contain- ing a living room and dining room on the ground floor and three bedrooms with two bathrooms on the upper floor. A careful perusal of this house will disclose several interesting features amongst which

are the unusual shaped living room, the provision of the large hot room

on the first floor and the unusual amount of closet and cupboard space.

The Contractors for these buildings are Messrs. Sung Kee Construction Co.
