NEW CLUBHOUSE—Balestier Plain
A modern clubhouse has been designed for the Indian Association by Mr. K. C. Chung, B. Arch., A.R.I.B.A. The lay-out has been planned for a membership of 500 and has ar unusually large lounge.
Provision has been made for a Badminton Court, Games and Changing Rooms on the ground floor.
A feature of the building is a large window on the west side which has been designed with pre-cast concrete fins to exclude the direct rays of the sun. The roof is arranged to include a promenade deck for evening use.
The site is about 450 x 330′ and the building is con- structed throughout of reinforced concrete with brick panels. The floor is finished with asphalt tiles.
The road level is 8 ft. higher than the datum level of the plain and the designer has provided for main and direct entrance from the road to the first floor.
