DROVIDING for a wide variety

of services, Hong Kong's eight- storey Sai Ying Pun Polyclinic in Queen's Road. West. has been opened by the Governor, Sir Robert Black.

Erection of the Polyclinic. which is located in a densely-populated area. was made possible by a dona- tion of HK$4,500,000 by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Some HK$1, 300.000 worth of equipment was given by the Government. Comple tion of the building took 23 months.

The new Polyclinic has a public laboratory equipped to deal with all routine pathological investigations, including Public Health laboratory services concerned with water and food.

The Institute of Pathology occu- pies the sixth and seventh floors, and the roof.

The general out-patient depart- ment is located on the upper ground floor while the chest clinic is accom-

modated on the first floor. The dental, social hygiene, radio therapy and general X-ray clinics are housed on the second floor.

The special clinics on the third, fourth and fifth floors deal mainly with cases referred from general clinics on Hong Kong Island. These are the surgery and orthopaedic clinics, the paediatric and medical clinics, and gynaecology, dermato. logy and the eye, nose and throat clinics.

These clinics are operated by members of the Medical Faculty of the University of Hong Kong and provide facilities for the training of medical students.
