The normal varied activities of the Crown Lands & Survey Office were carried out during this period under constant pressure. The hunt for suitable building sites was kept up with unabated interest on the part of prospec-
tive builders until August. The demand then slacked off temporarily, but as a result of the political situation in the A North, a further period of activity can be anticipated. tabulated summary is given below of new Crown land sales for 1947 and 1948 up to the end of September.
