play-room forms part of a very sub- stantial lawn area in front, because of the utilization of the sliding French windows which open thereto.

The visitor's introduction to the house is through a large hall, two storeys in height, with a columner and pedimented portico adding to the dignity and impressiveness of this en- tranceway.

The facing of the entire north wall of the main portion of the building is of undressed granite which is set off by white Snowcem concrete fram- ing around the garage door, the long window unit which lights the passage way and rear wall of the main bed- room, and the entrance portico.

The driveway is bounded on the east by the curved wall of the ser- vants' quarters which, together with the main living room wing and front of the building, is stipple plastered for contrast.

The first floor contains the master bedroom which occupies the entire west end of the building, a second bedroom, with two bathrooms between -one for each bedroom, a studio, additional servants' rooms and a large store room. The points of interest on this floor are the cupboard arrange- ments which provide a considerable amount of closet space without en- croaching on the floor areas, and the design of the ceiling of the master

bedroom which slopes down towards an all-glass window bay, facing south, providing ample light to the bedroom and allowing the west wall to be left solid so as to exclude the afternoon sun.
