ed. At the north-east corner there is a levelled area suitable for develop- ment as a playing field. In design- ing the building as much use as pos-
sible has been made of existing levels to reduce to a minimum expensive site formation work.
The accommodation provided will
include a demonstration hall, one large lecture hall, two small lecture halls, a nature study room, two homecrafts rooms one of which will be fitted out as a typical Chinese tene:ment flat, an arts room, a car- pentry workshop, and ten small rooms for private study. In addition to these rooms, there will be an assembly hall to seat 500 persons, complete with stage and dressing rooms, a re- fectory where students can take their midday meals, а gymnasium, library, and a students common rcom. The main part of the building will be three storeys high, and all the main rooms will face due north and south thus reducing to an absolute minimum sun penetration.
a
The building will be constructed of reinforced concrete frame with brick panels.
Tenders will be called on 21st September, 1951, and it is anticipated that the building will be completed early in April 1952.
