Photograph taken at the entrance of the Brick works on The keen interest that His Excel- lency the Governor, Sir Alexander Grantham, takes in every phase of commercial development of the Colony is probably best exemplified by the number of informal visits he pays to industrial establishments throughout the Colony. It is thus that he ac- quired his deep insight into and keen understanding of the problems they are confronted with, and the sympathetic understanding he dis- plays is at one time a source of pleasure and inspiration to the whole community.
On 30th July, 1951, accompanied by the Hon. T. L. Bowring, Director of Public Works, His Excellency visited the Keen Sang Brickworks Ltd. at Castle Peak. He was greeted upon
the occasion of the Governor's visit.

arrival by Mr. Lee Ching, General Manager and Proprietor of the enter- prise, Mrs. Lee Ching, and their charming aviatrix daughter, Miss Lee Ya Ching, who acted as inter- preter for the occasion. Mr. H. S. Shen and Mr. C. W. Hon, Directors of the Company, and Mr. Henry Graye of Hong Kong Building Service Ltd., were also presented to the distinguished visitors.
The Governor commended Mr. Lee and the workers for their role in supplying bricks to the Colony's building industry at a time when imported bricks from neighbouring areas have ceased to come in.

We wish to take this opportunity of correcting a misstatement which inadvertently appeared in the article on the Keen Sang Brickworks in our last issue. We stated that, "The brick works are situated at the foot of Castle Peak quite some distance

from the main road and consequently are not served by the China Light & Power Company cables in the district. The power required to operate the fans and blowers, the brick-making machinery, cableway, and the light installation is obtained by a petrol- powered 60 kw. generator."

In actual fact the China Light & Power Company has been furnish- ing a full supply of power to the Keen Sang Brickworks since it recom- menced operations, the 60 kw. petrol- powered generator mentioned above being used merely for emergency stand-by duties.
