A study of the floor plans of the illustrated bungalows and two-storey house will show the thoughtful consideration that has gone into the design and arrangements of the rooms. All the usual facilities that may be expected to be included in modern house construction will be found herein.
The appointments in each building include hot and cold running water to all bathrooms, cloakroom, kitchen and laundry. Ample cupboard and storage accomodation has been provided. Kitchen and Servery arrangements are complete with stainless steel sinks and built-in cupboards, preparation tables and food stores.
All bedrooms are fitted with built-in wardrobes, and are provided with adequate through ventilation.
A feature
of these designs is the "back to front" ventilation in the lounge and living rooms.
Each house is provided with a large garage and self- contained servants' accommodation,
The specifications provide for brick or R.C. Construction throughout, teak or tiled floors, Marseilles type tiled roof with hardwood roof members, joinery in teak. The Bathrooms and cloakrooms will to be tiled in various colored wall tiles, while Kitchens will be tiled in 6′′ X 6" glazed white tiles.
The Singapore Improvement Trust have approved the sub-division and work on the roads and sewer is now well advanced. The first four houses are rapidly approaching completion.
