An advantage of using the precast cladding units was that these could be cast on site by the contractor at the same time as foundation work was being carried out. Thus the construc- tion time, and subsequently the total

cost of building, was lessened. Work started on the site on November 9, 1967 and was completed by March 23, 1968. The total cost of the two build- ings was approximately HK$850,000.

Both buildings are designed to a 3 ft. module, the cladding units mea- suring 3 ft. x 9 ft. These units, totalling 600, were cast on site each day using ten steel moulds. They comprise light-
