scheme will house more than 17,000 people in four 16-storey blocks and eight 7-storey blocks. This will give a total of 2,924 flats in addition to 32 shops on the ground floors of two of the high blocks.

The low blocks will be identical in structure with those at the We Lok Estate in Kun Tong. They are divided in five-person flats on one side and seven-person flats on the other, with corridor access in the centre.

All accommodation will be of the one-room flat type. each flat being self-contained with its own kitchen. bathroom and drying verandah.

Each of the high blocks will have a 15-passenger lift and each will have a covered play space inside the block.

The site occupies nine acres of reclaimed land near the junction of TWSK and Castle Peak roads. Be- cause of the reclamation extensive piling work is necessary. Piling for the first phase of the scheme, consist- ing of six blocks, is almost complete. Construction of these six blocks is expected to be finished over a period between June and December 1963. The remaining six blocks in the second phase of the programme are due for completion between August 1963 and June 1964.

The whole of this low-cost estate is being designed by the Housing Authority's own architectural staff.
