'HE CONFUCIAN
THE
ACADEMY, which already has a school in Tak Shing Road, is to build a new primary and middle school on plot NKIL 4404, off Choi Hung Road in San Po Kang. Kowloon.
The Government has given the plot of land, which covers 19,370 square feet, for the school and will give a subsidy towards the cost of its operation. The school buildings will cover 11,250 square feet and will accommodate just over 1.000 pupils in a volume of about 525,000 cubic feet at cost of $850,000 including piling and site formation.

The building will be U-shaped, with five floors on two sides of the U and one floor, housing a covered playground and assembly hall (78

feet x 48 feet) with stage, on the third side. The first and second floors will house the primary school and the third and fourth the middle school.
On the opposite side to the assem- bly hall on the ground floor will be a smaller covered playground. The front portion of this floor is given over to entrance halls. car ports for staff cars, changing rooms and lava- tories. In the open space in the middle of the U will be a basket ball court.
It is hoped to place a mosaic of Confucius, measuring 40 feet by 15 feet, over the main entrance to the school, but a decision about this has not yet been finally made.
On the first floor will be eight classrooms, store rooms and head- master's rooms; on the second will be four classrooms. the library, a geography room, general purpose room, store room and rooms for teachers.
On the third floor will be eight classrooms and the school office; and on the fourth floor will be two class. rooms, physics and chemistry labora- tories. a room for domestic science. and teachers' rooms. All floors will have lavatory accommodation.
Construction will be of reinforced concrete beam and post. The Hong Kong Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd. will start piling with Franki piles in September. The architect is Mr. T.K. Wong.
