CONTRACTS AWARDED IN SINGAPORE DURING 1948
We received from the Municipal Architect & Building Surveyor's Department of the Municipality of Singapore the following list of contract works undertaken by that department during the year 1948. It is with the greatest pleasure that we reproduce the list in full giving a description of the work, the name of the contractor and the value of the contract.
We strenuously advocate the fullest publicity in connection with the awarding of Public Works contracts and feel that a great deal of suspicion with which public works are viewed and a great deal of misunderstanding on the part of the public in connection with such works could be eradicated if the quite unnecessary secrecy concerning the awarding of such contracts could be dispensed with as has been done in this case.
