The remaining smaller buildings comprise Dangerous Goods Stores and a Garage. The latter includes a Mess Room and Lavatories at the rear. The Watchmen's quarters and Despatch Office are located adjacent to the Main Entrance Gate.
The Offices have the usual accommodation, whilst the Main Stores and Demonstration Room are also located in this building. Both the latter are provided with small loading Docks.
The flushing water supply for all lavatories is gravity fed from a roof-tank, located on the office building. The replenishment of this tank is controlled by a float switch operating a pump which draws water from a well sunk at the rear of the Office building. All other water is metered through a 3" main. This supplies factory service require- ments as well as domestic needs. In view of the nature of the processes employed, a 6′′ Fire Main serving a number of Hydrants is also installed.
Electric current whether Power or Lighting, are taken from a 6600 400 Volt 400 KVA Transformer located in the Oxygen Building. Separate L.T. Switch Boards are
provided for the Oxygen and Acetylene Buildings, the cable to the latter being underground. The lighting cable to the office switchboard is also underground, but the Power cable is overhead. In the Acetylene Building, all electrical fittings and motors are of the Flameproof variety— -as prescribed by Home Office regulations, in the U.K. As an additional safe- guard, emergency alarm and stop switches are installed at strategic points.
All Plant and Machinery have been supplied from the United Kingdom by The British Oxygen Company Ltd., and installed under the supervision of their Erection Engineer.
