HON. E. A. BOYCE

The Hon. E. A. Boyce, B.Sc., A.M.I.C.E., the new Director of Public Works in Hongkong, arrived by the R.M.S. Canton on Monday, 26th September, 1949, accompanied by Mrs. Boyce.

Mr. Boyce was first appointed in the Colonial Service in 1925 and began his service in the Public Works Department of Uganda. Other posts he held prior to his appointment to Hongkong have been Deputy Director of Public Works in the Bahamas, and Director of Public Works in British Honduras, British Guiana and the Gold Coast. His appointment as D.P.W., Gold Coast, from which post he has come to Hongkong, was made in 1945. In the Gold Coast he was also Controller of Civil Aviation,

Mr. Boyce was a British delegate to the International Road Congress at Munich in 1935.

MR. D. E. CLARKE, J.P.

Mr. Clarke joined J. D. Humphreys & Son Ltd. in their London office in 1897. He was transferred to Hong Kong in August 1904 coming to the same office in Alexandra Building, which had just been completed, where he is now working.

As executive officer of the firm he was responsible for the development of the Ilumphreys properties in Kowloon and Hong Kong. The buildings which were erected during his period of office are as follows:-
