The following valuations were sub- mitted for this quarter:-
5 lots amounting to $829,800.00 for lease renewals: 105 properties valued at $845.800.00 for resumption pur- poses: 48 lots valued $174,042.00 for exchanges: 97 hereditaments valued at $4.399,800.00 for estate duty: various W.D. lots amounting in all to just under $50,000,000.00; and miscel- laneous valuations for purchase, sale. removal of restrictive covenants, per- mit fees. conversions, etc. of a total value of $17,176,200.00. New works completed during the period included the Bowen Road Ser- vice Reservoir, the Salt Water Pump- Ing Scheme, and repairs to the Shing Mun Catchwater.

During this period total of 8,387 meters were repaired or overhauled. 52,065 feet of new mains were laid, 37.598 accounts for water consumed were issued as well as 1,138 demand notes for deposits for new water sup- ply.
The workshop was kept fully oc- cupied and 480 orders were completed in connection with the maintenance of the Waterworks and completed for other Government departments.

The culverting of Sing Wo Road nullah between Wongneichong Road and Tsol Tak Street was completed, and 190 ft. of the Sookunpoo nullah near the French Hospital was culvert- ed to provide for better access to the Ho Tung Girls School.

Stormwater drains were commenced
Reclamation. A box culvert forming an extension, 226 ft. in length_to Sookunpoo nullah at Causeway Bay Reclamation was completed. Drain- age plans for 68 private buildings were examined and reports made to the Chief Building Surveyor.
