The multi-storey "street" idea

is shown clearly in this picture.

Small bridges span the space

between the front doors of the units and the central "street" (across the small oblongs.)

There is no cooped-in" feeling in the building. From all "street" levels an open view can be had over the neighbouring terrain-in this case out over the junks and sampans at Aberdeen. The open slits on either side of the "streets" and the open ends of the buildings allow air to circulate freely.
