ALIMAK K HOIST

A ROPELESS HOIST FOR PASSENGERS AND GOODS

This is the hoist for passengers and goods which provides the most simple and foolproof method of erection yet devised.

A remarkable feature of the K-hoist is that it is completely free from the conventional winch as well as hoisting ropes, these being replaced by a patended rack and pinion drive.

The high capacity of 231⁄2 cwt. (1200 kg) and the generously dimensioned cage with a floor area of 55 sq.ft. (5,2 sq.m.) are a couple of the outstanding features of this hoist.

The mast can be erected to a height of 650 ft. (200 m) and is tied to the building by the dual purpose landing equipments.

EXTENDING THE MAST.

To increase the height of the mast the cage is driven to the top of the mast whereby the counterweight comes down to ground level. You loosen the wire ropes of the counterweight on top of the cage, dismantle the top sheave and bolt the new section to the mast. By virtue of the electric motor and the drive gear, but without using the coun- terweight you can now climb another 1 metre (5 ft) to fit the next section. Mount the top sheave, pull out the amount of counterweight wire rope re- quired from the drum, fasten the wire ropes and you have completed the erec- tion of mast for one more storey. The total time needed for this job is in the vicinity of 30 minutes (at a height of 50 metres-160 ft.). We claim there is no other method as simple as this one- possible only when using a climbing gear. The most risky moment of hoist operation is when you extend the to wer. However, this is not the case with the ALIMAK-K and at what height you operate is of minor importance.

Should the entire drive gear break, the overspeed governor will come into action wedge the cage to the mast and cut the power supply instantaneously.
