Casual observers and passengers seeing the finished building are un- aware of the hindrances encountered by the architects, engineers and contractors. Bad weather and the difficulty of getting dollar allocations from the Central Bank caused much delay. Many modifications in plans had to be made to meet the require ments of the airline companies and to keep the building abreast of tech- nological progress in the jet age.

Manila International Airport sym- bolises the fast and steady economic progress of the Philippines. This magnificant and functional terminal will serve more than a million Fili pinos as well as foreign nationals and tourists.

Filipinos are proud indeed that their country, dubbed the "melting pot of the world in the Far East", can offer a terminal building which can compare favourably with any structure of the same type in other countries servicing the fast, smooth and comfortable jet planes of the different nations of the earth.

The main stairs going to the second floor main waiting lobby. On its right will be an escalator. Being installed at present, it will be the first of its kind in the Philippines.

The air-conditioned main waiting lobby for the public can accommodate thousands of people. The globe was supplied by IMP (Philippines) Inc. and is supposed to synch- ronize with the movement of the earth in its revolutions.
