Construction is in reinforced con- crete with granite plaster facing on all walls with coloured panels in vitreous mosaic.
All windows have all-round hoods against the sun on sides which receive the full glare, and hoods are provided for the fixing of aircondi- tioners. Living room windows are full length opening to balconies.
A feature of Caroline Mansions is the 36-feet by 11-feet coloured mo. saic picture above the Pennington Street-Yunping Road apex. The de- sign is from a wall painting in the ancient Buddhist cave temples at Tun Huang in North China. It was reproduced in Muranglas Byzantine art mosaic in a studio in Italy and erected by local workmen here.
Area of the site in approximately 15.000 square feet and the building cost approximately $3,500,000, with a cubic foot cost of $2.80 completed with all fittings.
